Back to Basics.

So its time for me to update my blog again! Lots have happened including my surprise birthday celebration, and Shan's surprise visit for my birthday, a trip to Salem and Halloween. And the semester is drawing to its close in 5 weeks time. So fast, but then again I have settled into Boston for a long time now.

Shan surprised me for my birthday by sending me a post card saying she's coming down to Boston once more!  Haha, this is like the thousandth time she's coming down already. I was so happy and couldn't wait but she wouldn't tell me when she was coming down. Originally I wanted to spend my birthday and my birthday weekend just chilling out and then going to school, sitting for tests and just like any normal day for me, it was no big deal cause basically, turning 18 I feel is more important that 21. But of course who would mind! I love Goh Huishan! So thoughtful!

So on the Saturday before my birthday (Monday) she came down with her sister early in the morning and we headed for Harvard for breakfast at IHOP which she was raving about for the longest time but I never had the opportunity to try! It was really good, food always tastes better when she's around. Which brings me to the point, I think all our friends know that we always eat good food, Fish Head Steamboat, Jap Cuisine, Steak, BBQ's and Hot plates, if not we will be cooking for fun. Sure miss those days. Then we headed to the Marriot to check in. She booked her flight tickets months in advance! Can you believe it! :) Then all of us headed down to Salem, the famous town where witch hangings and stuff occurred, a bit creepy but still very interesting, plus the weather was picture perfect for a horror movie. So I drove this time to Salem and it was super crowded lots of people cause it was closing down on Halloween, all the ghost tours were also fully booked up. But it was amazing, we had damn good thai food (in my opinion) and then went for the ghost tour. By the end of the day we were so tired and then the weirdest thing happened. Shan's sister's car got towed away. So we had to walk like few hundred metres to some deserted car depot to pay a fine and collect the car, by luck we found it. Funny incident. Anyway luckily we got it back and I drove back. Dropped ourselves off at Marriot once more and then Huimin (Shan's sister) drove home, she lives like 1 hr away from me. Spent the next 2 days just chilling and eating really good food once more before Shan left. I'm just so glad she came down, really made my month and year. I love you Goh!

In the morning at Harvard Square!

After dinner and before the ghost tour, look at the kettle corn, easily the best pop corn I ever had. Damn good. We actually managed to finish our share.

Outside the car tow, very dingy place.

So Monday when Shan left, as usual I was feeling down but knowing I would see her in a 6 weeks for thanksgiving really kept me happy. So I went down to my room did my work and waited for dinner which my roommates had dated me for. So we went down to a restaurant nearby and to my surprise 14 of my friends were waiting for me there! Amazing, thanks to Jon for organizing and whole thing and Randy my other amazing roommate for keeping it on the down low all the time! Its amazing! So everyone had a great time, by the way, like there was only 6 Americans at the table, my friends were from Taiwan, Korean, Iceland, England, Cyprus and 2 Mexican guys who went to the wrong restaurant also deserved a lot of credit. Thanks everyone but especially Jon. Really made my day! It was definitely a 21st birthday to remember.

Me sitting at the end of the table!

Me at the end again!

So then came Halloween, which was uneventful for me at the start. The school was decked with decorations which made me lose my appetite at lunch and dinner. But there were many people dressed up funnily and weirdly, typical of a music college I guess. So after dinner I went back to my room to do homework and stuff then my 2 Cyprian friends called me to go to a party with them, so I did. The streets had lots of funny people through the night, but we took like 2 hrs to reach a party (finally) and so it wasn't that bad but we knew we missed the biggest party in town (later on). Didn't take many photos there but I did crash a lot of people's photos. And I also didn't bother dressing up haha. But it was surely something else. You know how we don't celebrate Halloween in Singapore (except for people to club).

Lastly, I think many of you know that I'm leaving my College for a semester here. It's a personal choice and if you are going to ask me why its going to take the whole day. Lets just say, clash of interests, loss of interests etc. My school has a drop out rate of 60% and most of them leave after 1 or 2 semesters, including the famous people yes. Actually all the famous people I know. Except producers and film scorers. So I will see you guys back in Singapore at 10th Jan ok! After leaving Sg for half a year I will be coming back. With a very much clearer head. Till then my friends I love you all, and Goh Huishan!

I love you so much, thanks for everything!
