Hell Week

This was hell of a week for me, the busiest week I have ever spent in Boston. I went for Clinics, did 2 performances and did a few projects, on top of which it was freezing and I was still sticking to my practicing schedule. Plus, I had to go for a friend's birthday party. So here are some of the photos and I will be giving you a short presentation on them. Right.

First was the Dennis Chambers clinic that was held by Daddy's Junky Music opposite my school. I swear like tons of drummers from the school turned up just to see him play, including me. I mean its Dennis Chambers, one of the legends from the past century. His workshop was really long in my opinion and a lot of people asked him stupid questions but still it was interesting to see him play. Went with some friends.

This a Pavel, a professional drummer endorsed by Pearl, Paiste and some other ridiculous brands, his from the Czech Republic. I'm super impressed by his playing.

There you go, Dennis Chambers and his Pearl and Zildjian setup. For those who don't know what he really looks like, I have a huge poster of him on my wall back home.

Next was the Antonio Sanchez Clinic which was held at the end of the week. Antonio Sanchez is yet another legend who graduated from Berklee and his playing is just simply amazing. Got a killing sense of humour too, MEXICANS. He did a clinic with 2 other students from Berklee, one Japanese and another Mexican, both who were freaking fantastic. Its hard to imagine that they are students.

Antonio Sanchez, telling people about his life story.

His setup. I was drooling over it.

Mid week I had my first performance here as a Berklee student. But I wasn't playing the drums or anything, I was singing, in a language that I was unfamiliar with, and I didn't really know the meaning of the lyrics but I did make an effort to find out. We were singing traditional Brazilian songs, and in an African language. The songs were about Deities from their traditional, and most songs were played during the Portuguese Colonization. Anyhow here are the photos, this group was set up by Marcus Santos and it was an honor to be on stage with such an amazing percussionist too. Also my friends Raul and Jose were playing the Congas.

The performance in the David Friends Recital Hall.

Thats me in the center, always moving.

Then at the start of the week was a friend's birthday party. This is Mindy from Korea and shes in the center of the photo below. Many Koreans there at the party but alot of my friends too. I went with Raul and Jose from Mexico after our rehearsal at night. Others in the photo included Caroline from Norway, Jun from Korean, Dayeon another good drummer from Korean and Raul in the background.

At the party.

This is Dominique from Ecuador looking for something in a Bud Light can.

Then it was Ramu's birthday at the start of the week too! He treated us (his friends) to a dinner at a Thai Restaurant 5 mins from my place. It was really good and I met another bunch of musicians in their upper semesters. Was really nice.

The birthday party.

And just yesterday, I did a Samba Batucada with the Afrobrazil group out in the cold -5 degrees at Harvard Square, outside the COOP. It was freezing but I was getting a performance high like I never did in the past half year. It was really just amazing and my honor to be playing with the percussionists. It was really fun but super tiring.

Ok thats alot of photos and events for a week and its really tiring me out. Thanks giving break is coming and I'm going to Las Vegas with Shan, OMG can't wait, its going to be so fun and exciting. Meanwhile I have like 1 month left in Berklee. Time really flies here, but its worth it, too bad I'm not going to be doing music (my choice) full time but definitely its is a priceless personal experience.

I can't wait to see you, GIRLFRIEND.
